(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Wholesale data center operator Vantage Data Centers (www.vantagedatacenters.com) announced on Wednesday it will be hosting the "Smart Data Center Revolution" at its Santa Clara data center campus on April 22 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The event will celebrate the largest LEED platinum candidacy campus in the US, highlighting Vantage Data Center's Santa Clara project as an example of how companies can work together.
Vantage launched as a company last June, following its acquisition of a 18-acre site on Walsh Avenue. Over the last year, Vantage developed the property into a massive data center campus.
The company will discuss the commercial viability of a much-needed, fundamental shift in the data center industry towards improved energy and operating efficiency.

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Data center research organization Uptime Institute (www.uptimeinstitute.org) announced on Wednesday that it has certified five Datacraft (www.datacraft-asia.com) onecloud data centers in India with its Tier III certification. The organization says this level of certification indicates "true" 24x7 availability and ensures no downtime occurs.
Uptime Institute says it is currently processing 11 Tier III and IV certifications in India. According to the press release, these agreements were signed within the last four months demonstrating "the level of demand and explosive growth of the Indian market for highly available data centers."
According to India's new national census, the population is about 1.21 billion people, or 17 percent of the world population.
"Datacraft exemplifies market leadership in India with Uptime Institute's Tiers Classification and Certification System, distinguishing Datacraft as exceptional among Indian providers with independent verification of continuous availability," Martin McCarthy, Uptime Institute executive chairman said in a statement. "Tier Certification is insurance for substantial data center investment without impacting or restricting important speed to market. We anticipate that Tier Certification will become commonly adopted in the booming Indian data center market by top enterprises and service providers who want to assure investment value and ensure that business objectives of availability can be met."
Uptime Institute will certify a total of six Datacraft onecloud data centers this year. The firm says that once completed "will represent the largest portfolio of Tier Certified data centers in the world."

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting and colocation provider Latisys (www.latisys.com) announced on Thursday that it has expanded its Ashburn, Virginia data center campus to include 14MW of additional power and 26,000 square feet of new raised floor space.
This expansion comes two weeks after Latisys introduced its new data center as a service offering for large enterprises and service providers that have requirements for high-density data center power, cooling and capacity.
With the additional power, Latisys says it is equipped to meet enterprise IT infrastructure requirements. The expansion enables Latisys to deliver flexible deployments that can scale to 220 watts per square foot.
“We continue to see customers express the need to ensure built-in expansion capacity to meet their own internal growth while also retaining the flexibility to keep pace with the evolution of compute, storage and network technologies,” David Haskell, Washington, D.C. Regional Sales Director, Latisys said in a statement. “By implementing high density power and cooling capacity, and delivering a flexible data center-as-a-service offering to enable larger private and public sector entities to meet evolving IT requirements, customers can eliminate scalability and reliability issues.”

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- In a report by The Australian, Dell (www.dell.com) CEO Michael Dell revealed that the company is set to launch a massive global data center buildout to meet the demands for its cloud computing services.
The initiative is part of the company's overall plan to build data centers in 10 countries of the world, starting with a new data center in Australia.
The company is seeing a growing demand for cloud computing services from the region, making Australia a critical area for business.
The data center should help to increase the adoption of secure and private clouds for customers who are attracted to the economies of a public cloud while requiring the security of a private cloud.
This time last year, Dell launched a range of new cloud products and services, including new cloud servers.
The country has certainly seen a rise in data center activity in the past few years. More recently, Hewlett Packard announced plans to develop a facility in Easter Creek, New South Wales.
The new data center should allow Dell the means to provide greater capacity to meet its growing demand.
Dell said that its plans include building bigger, more efficient and multi-tenant data centers.
"We're building data centers in about 10 countries around the world," said Dell said. "What we’'re finding is customers want to take advantage of the economics of the public cloud, but they really don’t want a public cloud … what they want is a private, secure cloud that has a level of assurance and security with it."
