The initiative is part of the company's overall plan to build data centers in 10 countries of the world, starting with a new data center in Australia.
The company is seeing a growing demand for cloud computing services from the region, making Australia a critical area for business.
The data center should help to increase the adoption of secure and private clouds for customers who are attracted to the economies of a public cloud while requiring the security of a private cloud.
This time last year, Dell launched a range of new cloud products and services, including new cloud servers.
The country has certainly seen a rise in data center activity in the past few years. More recently, Hewlett Packard announced plans to develop a facility in Easter Creek, New South Wales.
The new data center should allow Dell the means to provide greater capacity to meet its growing demand.
Dell said that its plans include building bigger, more efficient and multi-tenant data centers.
"We're building data centers in about 10 countries around the world," said Dell said. "What we’'re finding is customers want to take advantage of the economics of the public cloud, but they really don’t want a public cloud … what they want is a private, secure cloud that has a level of assurance and security with it."
