Whether you're new to PR or have been sending releases for
years, it's a good idea to make sure your website is "press
ready."
The bottom line: make it easy for reporters to give you
good press.
The best way to do this is to set up separate area on your
site for "Press." In a recent article in our PR Fuel
newsletter titled "Make Room for the Press on Your Website,"
Karen Baxter urges you to include the following ...
1. Background information on your company, short bios,
contact names, email addresses and phone numbers for
reporters to make follow up calls. This is very important.
2. News clippings of good press coverage you've received in
the past.
3. If you've put out press releases before, make the most
recent ones visible on the page and offer access to an
archive of the older ones.
4. If you've never put out a press release before, include
newsworthy information about your company here in a format
that resembles a press release. Make reporters feel
comfortable.
Not only will you be making it easier for reporters to give
you good press, but you'll also save time and money by
cutting down the number of phone inquiries your people will
have to field and the number of press kits you'll have to
mail out.
And an added benefit? Free search engine optimization.
Search engine spiders weigh the content found on each page
and look for heavy keyword usage. Once you start including
your press releases, which should be chock-full of keywords
related to your business, you should see those pages enter
the search engine results page. Free search engine
marketing!
But first you need a press release. If you need help
writing a press release or just want to have an editor
review what you've written, hit reply and request to
schedule a free ten minute call. No strings.
Don't give up,
